Taweret is the ancient Egyptian hippopotamus goddess of fertility, childbirth, and protection, known for her fearsome, protective form combining a pregnant woman's belly
with a hippopotamus, crocodile, and lion. 

Worshipped in homes rather than temples,
her image was invoked on household objects and amulets to safeguard pregnant women, children, and families from evil spirits and dangers, particularly during the perilous time of childbirth.
